The Marathon Debut - Leanne Pompeani
PART ONE: The hours before she became a 2:24:53 marathoner.

Sometimes, we forget that elite athletes are human, too. They experience the same pre-race nerves, doubts, and fears that come with competition—the sleepless night filled with thoughts of ‘what if?’
Early on race day, I joined Leanne to document the moments before her debut marathon. Her nervousness and tension were tangible. This race marked many firsts for her: her longest distance, longer workouts, extended taper, and new fuelling and mental preparation.
We knew that no words or encouragement could ease those nerves. As we shared the same faith in Jesus, the only thing I could do was pray for her. I shared Ephesians 1 and prayed that the Holy Spirit would empower her to grasp the profound love of Christ – to let His perfect love replace her fear with peace and courage. It was a beautiful moment as we were transformed by His presence, the true assurance and overflowing peace that only He can provide.
PART TWO: The Marathon Debut - a short film
Videography by Natalie Wong
Leanne made history as the fastest Australian woman on a marathon debut. But beyond the record, she’s just every runner, who dared to dream. Putting in the work, in the quiet hours of doubt, the relentless miles when no one was watching
The marathon is more than a race. It’s the journey, the character you build through every challenge, and the person you become.
